About the procedure

With the help of photorejuvenation – or skin rejuvenation, which is currently one of the most sought-after treatments – it is possible to gently revitalise (rejuvenate) the skin of the entire face, neck, décolletage, back and the backs of the hands.

Photorejuvenation takes a comprehensive approach to removing fine and deeper wrinkles, stretch marks and skin imperfections such as pigmentation spots, enlarged pores, bacterial acne, spider veins and so on, with the aid of a high-quality medical IPL device.

Ageing is a natural process and its signs – which are often more or less visible depending on genetic predisposition – result in a loss of elasticity and collagen in the skin, leading to sagging and wrinkled skin, including expression lines.

What is the principle behind IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)?

Photorejuvenation, one of the gentlest methods for rejuvenating the appearance, uses IPL to break down collagen fibres through thermal action, thereby triggering the regeneration of skin cells to produce new collagen fibres, including the healing process.

The light energy doses used with IPL are very low; therefore, photorejuvenation is risk-free and does not damage the surrounding epidermis.

Who is IPL photorejuvenation suitable for?

Photorejuvenation, or photo-rejuvenation, is suitable for anyone struggling with rough, blemished and reddened skin, excessive age spots and sunspots, minor scars, or are troubled by wrinkles, and who prefer a gentler, more natural treatment over more invasive surgical procedures.

Photorejuvenation is suitable for anyone wishing to improve the appearance and texture of their skin, including the first signs of ageing, whilst reducing pore size without having to undergo a full surgical procedure.

Benefits of the procedure

Photorejuvenation slows down the ageing process, boosts self-confidence, improves the condition and appearance of the skin, and reduces facial contours.

Nowadays, thanks to its safety, the absence of the need for surgical procedures, its rejuvenating and smoothing effects, and the stimulation of collagen and elastin fibre production, it ranks amongst the unique treatments in aesthetic medicine.

The procedure can be combined with other aesthetic treatments, including laser treatments, botulinum toxin injections, chemical peels, and so on.

  • Visible results with long-lasting effects
  • An exclusive, premium, skin-friendly device
  • Tightening of sagging skin
  • Uncompromising results in the fight against acne and smallpox scars
  • Lifting effect, even skin tone, pore minimisation
  • Removal of expression lines and deep wrinkles
  • Stimulation of collagen and elastin production and normal sebum production
  • Lightening or removal of hyperpigmentation

Procedure

Photorejuvenation is carried out on an outpatient basis, without anaesthesia; for more sensitive patients, a numbing cream or local anaesthesia may be used.

A beam of light energy penetrates the skin tissue, where it heats the collagen fibres without damaging the dermis.

The contraction of the connective tissue cells then stimulates the formation of new collagen fibres, tightening and smoothing the skin; a regenerative process is initiated in the subcutaneous layer.

When treating spider veins, they are sealed off and gradually reabsorbed; when treating acne scars, the bacteria causing the problem are destroyed.

The treated area shows slight redness after the procedure, which disappears within a few hours. Depending on the size of the treated area, the procedure takes around 30 minutes; patients can resume their work and social lives without restriction.

To achieve optimal results, around 4–6 treatments are usually required, depending on the condition of your skin. There should be a gap of around 2–3 weeks between each treatment. However, the number of treatments you choose is entirely up to you.

Aftercare following the treatment

There is no need to follow any particularly strict guidelines after the treatment, and you can go about your normal activities without restriction.

For about 2 days after the treatment, we recommend that you avoid physically strenuous activities; we also advise against hot baths or saunas.

Following photorejuvenation, it is also important not to expose your skin to the sun unnecessarily for about two weeks. It is also important to keep your skin well moisturised.
